Space Situational Awareness
Space Situational Awareness
CACI delivers end-to-end space situational and domain awareness, providing a highly accurate picture of the space environment to Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. Our worldwide network of radio frequency (RF)-based sensors, software-defined radios (SDRs), and processors work together to deliver a cohesive space domain awareness layer for the national security space enterprise. The pattern recognition and predictive qualities provided by our space situational awareness (SSA) and space domain awareness (SDA) capabilities deliver precise, highly accurate indications and warning (I&W) of space launches and maneuvers and enable targeted threat response. This multi-mission worldwide sensor enterprise enables resiliency, tracking, and precision characterization for the space domain.
CACI has deep expertise in the space domain awareness mission, built up from more than two decades of designing, building, deploying, and sustaining our enterprise mission management and scheduling software framework – the Goldstone Family of Systems (GFS) network – to constantly update a more precise picture of the space environment. Our digital engineering experts and system engineers employ best practices across the GFS, constantly improving the operational capability of GFS with features such as autonomy and self-healing.
Our SSA and SDA expertise includes:
- Establishment and monitoring of worldwide ground sensor sites for our network to provide more precise space object characterization
- Extensive expertise in the construction and sustainment of ground-based RF sensors for SSA and SDA operations, digital space signal processing, “sense making” expertise, and agile and adaptive mission management and execution software
- SDA and SSA systems engineers ensure the enterprise can address technology advancements while maintaining scalability and interoperability, along with security, cyber, and policy compliance
Our SSA and SDA enterprise of passive RF sensors provides precision space object characterization for rapid detection, identification, and tracking of space objects. CACI’s GFS enables alerting for new operating modes and objects, threat identification, and I&W. Data collected from the network allows the production of highly accurate visualizations of the space environment, for agencies across the DoD and IC.
Our technology capabilities include:
- State-of-the-art pattern recognition and predictive capabilities that deliver precise, highly accurate I&W of space launches and maneuvers
- Electronic surveillance that enables targeted threat response
- A fully autonomous, self-healing enterprise of collection resources and mission systems
- The GFS worldwide enterprise’s RF sensors, edge processing capabilities, and enterprise cloud processing builds a curated and actionable information picture of the space environment
- Solutions for missions such as measurement and signature intelligence (MASINT) and signals intelligence (SIGINT)
