Ryan D. McCarthy
Ryan D. McCarthy is an outside director on CACI International Inc’s board of directors, a Fortune 500™ company with more than 25,000 employees committed to expanding the limits of national security.
McCarthy served as United States secretary of the Army from September 2019 through January 2021 after serving as undersecretary of the Army from August 2017 through September 2019. He has extensive national security experience at the most senior levels within the Department of Defense.
Before his confirmation as undersecretary of the Army, McCarthy held successive vice president roles at Lockheed Martin Corporation from 2011 through 2017. In this role, he was responsible for sustainment, customer solutions, and program integration of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program and the company’s global security policy. Earlier in his career, he served as special assistant to the secretary of defense from 2007 to 2011 and held positions supporting the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs and HSBC NA. McCarthy also served in the U.S. Army from 1997 to 2002, deploying with the 75th Ranger Regiment during the invasion of Afghanistan.
McCarthy is the dean’s scholar in residence at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. He also serves on the boards of OneWeb Technologies, Tomahawk Robotics, Striveworks, and Millennium Corporation, all private corporations.
