Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer

Jason Bales is the Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for CACI International Inc, a global provider of expertise and technology serving defense, intelligence, and federal civilian government customers.

In this role, Bales is responsible for advancing critical technologies, driving technology investments, identifying and developing strategic partnerships, and recruiting and developing the company’s technical workforce to accelerate growth and innovatively address customers’ most challenging needs.

With more than two decades of experience in product engineering support, Bales brings deep mission expertise. Before this appointment, he served as CACI’s vice president of technology and solutions where he oversaw and directed the development and implementation of technical strategy, roadmaps, and engineering processes to enable product capability development from initial concept to deployment. His experience spans domains from electromagnetic spectrum, photonics, space, cyber, command and control, communications, intelligence, and more. He is also a CACI Fellow for radio frequency (RF) and digital signal processing.

Prior to joining CACI in 2017, Bales spent time as a senior systems engineer at Azure Summit Technologies, which has since been acquired by CACI, as well as teaching as an adjunct professor at the George Mason University Volgenau School of Engineering. Bales began his career as an Electronics Engineer for the Army Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) before transitioning to industry in 2006.

Bales holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University and currently serves on the George Mason University Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board as well as the Virginia Tech National Security Institute Advisory Board.
