Find out more about how CACI MTL can help you!
The IRATE tool uses simulation to estimate the thermal characteristics of scene or object images obtained from infrared (IR) sensors.
How IRATE Works- Rapidly constructs a simulated IR signature of a three dimensional (3-D) scene or object corresponding to an actual IR sensor image
- Overlays the simulated image (and any desired annotations) onto the actual image
- Based on analyst inputs, IRATE automatically varies the simulation scenarios (e.g., altitude, wind speed, air temperature, rainfall rate, surface and subsurface thermal characteristics) until the simulated image best matches the actual image
- When a best match is achieved, the simulation model yields a best estimate of the IR characteristics of the actual scene/object.

IRATE is Unique
- Uses CACI MTL's EZ*IR Tool to simulate IR signatures of scenes or objects based on first principles physics models
- 3-D visualization is implemented in Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML)
- Mensuration Tool - Uses 3-D visualization software (VRML) to overlay a simulated IR signature of a scene/object onto an actual IR image
- Model Builder (World Editor) - Manipulates all 3-D spatial properties of the simulated scene
- Feature Builder - Builds or modifies scene features from primitive elements representing their material composition, and adds primitives as needed
- Attribute Editor - Assigns features to simulated scene objects, object surfaces and subsurfaces
- IR Simulator - CACI MTL's EZ*IR Tool simulates an IR scene or object
- Correlator - Runs a series of simulated thermal scenarios, spatially registers each simulated IR image with the actual IR image and identifies the simulated image that best matches the actual image
- Renderer - Initializes IR simulator and correlator
- Image Annotator (Vrwave) - Annotates the simulated image (model) as desired
