EZ*IR simulates IR signatures of scenes and objects in real time based on rigorous, deterministic, physical, thermodynamic and radiation principles.
EZ*IR Applications- Simulating Visual Imagery in a user selectable IR band
- Engineering Design
- IR Image Analysis

- User selectable inputs allow precise tailoring of the IR and dynamic characteristics of the object and environment
- Highly accurate results at video frame rates (30 frames/sec.) for real time applications
- Can be used alone or integrated into other real time simulations

- Uses NIMA's Digital Feature Analysis Data (DFAD) to assign thermal features to objects and background materials
- Uses MODTRAN Models for atmospheric features
- Applies the above features to a simulated visual scene and computes gray scale infrared intensity values on a frame-by-frame basis
- Uses the above IR values to "paint" a simulated infrared scene, as it would be displayed by an IR imaging sensor such as a FLIR
- Uses innovative data management schemes to achieve real time IR scene generation
- Uses internal data taps to extract simulated spectral information at any point in the reflected or emitted radiant exitance paths

EZ*IR H/W-S/W Configuration - Silicon Graphics workstation under Unix O/S, written in Fortran
Sponsor - Naval Air Warfare Center - Pax River, MD
