CACI MTL provides a full spectrum of technical support for testing radar, infrared, electro-optical, multispectral and hyperspectral sensor systems.
Our support includes
- Both laboratory and field testing
- Collection and analysis of ground-truth data (using calibrated ground targets) for evaluating performance of airborne and space-borne sensor systems
- Quantitative characterization of meteorological and atmospheric conditions during field testing
- Design, fabrication and deployment of ground-truth targets to support field testing
CACI MTL specializes in collection and analysis of ground-truth data for evaluating performance of airborne/space-borne sensor systems. We have provided scene and target characterization services for hundreds of field data collection exercises in the U.S. and abroad.
Typical activities involved in ground-truth data collection and analysis include
- Test scenario planning and development
- Site selection
- Logistics support planning and execution, including host facility coordination and air operations coordination
- Planning, designing and fabricating calibrated ground-truth targets for field testing of the sensor systems
- Identifying and acquiring instrumentation for quantitative scene characterization of meteorological and atmospheric conditions before, during and after system testing
- Deploying ground targets and site instrumentation for scene and target characterizations
- Operating targets and data collection instrumentation to support system testing
- Validating the quality and correctness of the collected ground-truth data
- Analyzing the ground-truth data and airborne data to verify sensor system performance
- Documenting the results in a technical report
CACI MTL engineers have extensive experience in the design and fabrication of calibration targets, decoys and models. We have a large inventory of calibration targets and field instrumentation for scene and target characterization. This equipment covers the full range of sensors operating in the visible, infrared and radar regions of the spectrum. Our instrumentation inventory includes
- Spectro-radiometers
- Contact temperature measuring systems
- Imaging radiometers
- Scanning spectral radiometers
- Atmospheric transmission instruments
- Environmental measuring systems
- Radiosonde systems
- NIST traceable radiance and reflectance standards
CACI MTL also maintains a large inventory of equipment used in sensor calibration and in modeling target signature data. This inventory, most of which was built or integrated by us, includes calibration targets and camouflage, concealment and deception (CC&D) materials. Our personnel are trained in the deployment of this equipment and have military driver's licenses for the deployment of other military targets and supporting vehicles.
Because CACI MTL is familiar with organizational structures, as well as planning and liaison requirements for the majority of data collection facilities nationwide, we provide our customers comprehensive and accurate data collection with minimum interference to host facilities.
CACI MTL has performed sensor system testing for the
- Air Force
- Army
- National Air Intelligence Center (NAIC)
- National Imagery and Mapping Agency (NIMA)
- National Reconnaissance Agency (NRO)
- National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)
- Other DoD clients
- Numerous commercial clients
