Modules and Functionality

Batch Scanning enables large input-volume operations to gain maximum value from the lowest investment possible in scanning hardware and personnel. Using scanners from all major manufacturers, HighView's workflow distributes batch-scanned images to indexing workstations – achieving efficiency by indexing documents subsequently and separately.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) converts document images to electronic text. At any point in the processing cycle OCR can be used to achieve the benefits of full text indexing, full text searching and advanced text mining.

Full Text Indexing enables users to search documents by content. After conversion through OCR or text extraction of electronic documents, HighView offers the advanced search methods – including Boolean, proximity, fuzzy and numeric range searches. For Oracle users HighView uses Oracle Text to provide advanced linguistic analysis that reveals the meaning of document content and relationships.

Bar Code Recognition provides an accurate, automated means for indexing documents during any processing stage. It also may be used to define document separator pages in large scale batch scanning operations.

Document Management is the core of CACI's suite, governing both paper and electronic documents in hundreds of formats. These elements are available on the desktop for indexing, searching, retrieving and viewing. HighView provides document markup, security and configurable personalized filing structures.

Records Management eliminates the need for separate records and document solutions by managing the entire information lifecycle from document creation to records disposal. This module is certified compliant with the DoD 5015.2-STD, the electronic records management standard for federal agencies and the model for many state, local and industry standards.

Workflow consists of a composer, monitor and engine. The composer is a graphical tool that helps design automated work processes. Once a process has been defined the monitor measures and assesses performance. Inefficiencies can be corrected on the fly by rerouting or redistributing work items. The monitor also generates organization and individual level reports. The workflow engine evaluates transition rules, routes work items and generates audit trails to provide historical data on all processes.

Web Gateway enables access to the CACI HighView document repository from a browser. Users may log into the HighView environment and access documents either via an intranet or extranet. The Web Gateway expands the value and accessibility of the solution and enables controlled access for external users.

Enterprise Report Management is an application module that stores files in ASCII within HighView and automates the downloading, extracting, indexing and recording of the data and index structure.

Image Processing provides an integrated application module for image cleanup and manipulation. Image processing improves the readability of visually imperfect documents and can be implemented during or after scanning.

Fax Server centralizes inbound and outbound fax services in a single server and minimizes network traffic. It also creates documents that are as readily transferable as electronic files, enabling easy and speedy response.

• Faster Processing at the USITC – HighView is the foundation for the Electronic Document Information System at the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC), an independent, quasi-judicial agency that administers trade remedy laws. The publicly accessible, web enabled application processed more than 100,000 documents and four million images generated through legal research, investigations and adjudications during its first 12 months in production.
• Rapid Analysis at the U.S. Army – CACI's DOMEX Document and Media Exploitation system, built on HighView, is enabling the U.S. Army to rapidly capture, prioritize, analyze and translate massive amounts of foreign language documents seized in the course of Army operations.
