- Reuse/recycle plastic platters that prepared sandwiches and bagels come on.
- We can use a reusable water bottle for drinking water instead of purchasing individual serving
water bottles at the store, cafe or vending machine. Americans send about 38 billion - 38,000,000,000 - plastic water bottles
a year to landfills each year. Most buildings already have filtered water in their kitchens, so everyone wins! You stop paying for bottled water and Mother Earth
reaps the benefits of having fewer water bottles to break down! - Fishman, Charles, "Message in a Bottle," Fast Company, July 2007:110.
- Encourage employees to bring in their favorite mug from home or have CACI mugs
available for all employees. Styrofoam is only good for so many cups of coffee while a ceramic mug lasts much longer and
creates much less refuse at the office. Styrofoam cups provide so much waste and contribute to already over-filled landfills.
Yes, they are convenient, but if you take the cups out, people will adapt by bringing in their own and washing their cups/mugs
for reuse.*
- Use solar panels on the roof. It would allow solar energy to light, heat and cool CACI
facilities all year round - with long-term savings and huge, positive environmental impacts. There are potential government
subsidies and, if enough energy is saved, it is rerouted back to the energy company for use elsewhere. The electric company usually pays for the buyback.
- Reuse old paper scraps for a scratch pad - you can cut and staple and use for your notes.
