CACI's EDI Experience

CACI has been implementing Electronic Commerce (EC) and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions for more than 12 years. We are a leader using the latest in EC technology and best practices for both government and commercial entities.

CACI has directly implemented or contributed significantly to over 500 implementations of electronic commerce systems into the government and over 2000 implementations of EC into commercial organizations. CACI has been involved in the planning, design, development, deployment and post implementation support in these engagements through our many divisions.

Successful Users

Over 300 contracting organizations, both commercial and government, use our electronic commerce solutions. They include the

  • Department of Education
  • Department of Commerce
  • Veterans Affairs
  • General Services Administration, Public Buildings Services Division
  • Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation

In addition, CACI operates an Electronic Commerce Resource Center out of our San Antonio office sponsored by the DoD Joint Electronic Commerce Project Office.

CACI has a wealth of experience in assisting government agencies implementing EC enabled processes, utilizing EDI, Electronic Funds Transfer, workflow, credit card payment, purchasing or smart cards and web-based technologies.

Standards

Specifically on EDI standards, CACI is leading several major agencies and companies in developing the next generation of EC best practices. For example, CACI designed and implemented the ability to receive and review online pharmaceutical catalogs (EDI 832 transactions) from over 100 pharmaceutical companies.

All solutions that CACI considers for the an EDI project will meet, at a minimum, the standards of eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) X12.

EDI solutions are built to support all functional transaction requirements of specified legacy applications and/or databases. Currently, CACI has implemented several different transaction sets, including ANSI X12.820, X12.832, X12.836, X12.838, X12.840, X12.843, X12.850 and X12.997. These transactions have been implemented using a wide variety of implementation conventions, including 3040, 3050 and 4010.

CACI's QuickBid® has achieved government Electronic Data Interchange/Value Added Network (EDI/VAN) Certification. QuickBid lets a business reach out to opportunities around the globe by supporting a variety of X12 versions and data formats to include

  • Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML)
  • User Defined Files (UDFs)
  • EDI Standard Exchange Format (SEF)
  • Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

EDI Highlights

  • 1991 - CACI developed and implemented EDI software to support the acquisition process for the Army and DoD.
  • 1992 - CACI was awarded the contract to build the EDI gateway for the DoD - Defense Information System Agency (DISA), which supported all EDI transactions for both the DoD and the federal government.
