CACI Chairman of the Board Dr. Jack London Delivers Keynote Speech to National Association of Corporate Directors
On February 28, 2012, CACI Executive Chairman and Chairman of the Board Dr. J.P (Jack) London delivered a keynote address – "Bringing Your Leadership to the Boardroom" – to military flag and general officers taking part in the National Association of Corporate Directors' From Battlefield to Boardroom program. This exclusive development program is designed to prepare high-ranking retired and soon-to-retire military officers to serve in America's boardrooms.
Speaking to an audience with a total of some 1,750 years of national service, Dr. London used his more than 50 years of wide-ranging board experience to portray, in a highly realistic way, what it takes to be a successful board member. "Leadership needs are the same at the senior military levels as they are in the corporate world," he said, noting that both board and military leaders share the values of integrity, ethics, respect, and dignity. Successful board members must demonstrate enthusiasm and engagement, and provide solid support for the management team. Trusting relationships, critical thinking, and clear direction are essential.
Dr. London added that outstanding employees are also a key element in the success of any board, and any company – a common principle at CACI. He said, "The job is always serving the shareholders, but it's hard to serve the shareholders unless you serve the customers and clients. It's hard to serve the customers and clients unless you serve the employees, your people. If you don't have a competent, capable, and loyal team of people – your employees – you aren't going anywhere!"
The CACI Board currently includes two former flag officers: Admiral Gregory Johnson, U.S. Navy (Ret.), and General Scott Wallace, U.S. Army (Ret.). Dr. London has served as Chairman of CACI's board for 21 years, with a total of 31 years on the board. You can also read Dr. London's speech.
