CACI Chairman and CEO Dr. J.P. (Jack) London Named As Finalist for First-Ever American Business AwardsSM
The SteviesTM Will Be Presented on April 30th in New York City
Arlington, Va., April 10, 2003 — CACI International Inc (NYSE:CAI) announced today that CACI Chairman and CEO Dr. J.P. (Jack) London was named a finalist in the Best Executive category for the first-ever American Business Awards.
Hailed as "the business world's own Oscars" by the New York Post (September 22, 2002), The American Business Awards are the first national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace.
Nicknamed the SteviesTM for the Greek word "crowned," the awards will be presented at a nationally broadcast show on Wednesday, April 30, at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in New York City. The ceremony will be hosted by Charles Osgood, host of CBS News Sunday Morning and commentator for the CBS Radio Network, and will be broadcast nationwide on radio, and worldwide via the Internet, by Business TalkRadio.
Almost 500 nominations from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Best Overall Company, Best Executive, Best New Product or Service and Best Salesperson. Dr. London will be competing in the Best Executive category.
Dr. London joined CACI in 1972 as a program manager, became President and Chief Executive Officer in 1984, and was elected Chairman of the Board in 1990. He has guided the company through several critical phases, including engineering a revenue and profit turnaround in 1984 and transforming the company into an information technology-focused organization in 1990. Most recently, Dr. London's ability to match CACI solutions to the needs of America's defense and intelligence communities has generated record earnings and financial performance, significantly advancing the company goal to reach $1 billion in revenue by 2005. His service to both clients and employees has earned him numerous types of recognition, such as CNN Moneyline's CEO of the Week, the HR Leadership of Greater Washington Ethics in Business Award being named in his honor, and the KPMG Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie winners from among the finalists. The Board includes business luminaries such as Rich Karlgaard, publisher of Forbes, Bruce Nelson, chairman & CEO of Office Depot, marketing gurus Don Peppers and Martha Rogers, Anthony Robbins, Chairman & CEO of The Anthony Robbins Companies, Drew Schutte, publisher of Wired Magazine, Jeffrey Tarr, chairman & CEO of Hoover's Inc., and Donald Trump, chairman, president and CEO of The Trump Organization.
Finalists for the 2003 American Business Awards range from large corporations like Burger King Corp., IBM Corp., and Oracle Corp to smaller companies like Connect PR, Joseph's Lite Cookies, and The Guild Group.
The elegant Stevie trophy was designed by R. S. Owens, the same company that makes the Oscar and the Emmy.
"We began The American Business Awards last year when the public perception of companies and business people was at a low point," said Stevie Awards president and founder Michael Gallagher. "Our goal was to create a showcase for the best of American business, where the people and companies who don't get enough recognition for their good work can be singled out and celebrated. We are so pleased that so many companies, large and small, participated in our first year and we look forward to honoring those who make American business the envy of the world."
According to Dr. London, "Being named a finalist in The American Business Awards' Best Executive category is really testament to CACI's sustained business success. We have an exceptional Board of Directors, outstanding executive management, and a team of dedicated employees committed to excellence for their clients and honesty and integrity in everything they do. I am proud to represent CACI and to join the other highly qualified executives in receiving this recognition for the many positive contributions that American businesses continue to make to our country and our world."
